Da'wah of The Prophets and Apostles

Safar 1432 A.H,January 2011

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Here is a glimpse of the appealing call of the prophets and messengers to their people. Allah ta'ala tells the history of the struggle , that has been their mission in the Book of His, hopefully, InsyaAllah ,  we can too be included amongst  the people who learn the benefits , deriving lesson from it ,  Amen.

[1] The da'awah of Prophet Noah 'alaihisalam / greetings

Allah ta'ala said (which means), "Indeed We have sent Noah to his people, he  says: O my people, worship Allah, not for you to worship other than Him." (Surat al-A'raaf: 59). This noble verse shows that Noah's preaching is preaching unity.

[2] Da'wah of the Prophet Hud 'alaihis greetings

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "And to the 'AAD, which We sent their brother Hud. He said: O my people, worship Allah, not for you to worship other than Him." (Surat al-A'raaf: 65). This noble verse indicates that the  Prophet Hud was preaching monotheism.

[3] Da'wah of the Prophet Salih 'alaihisalam / greetings

Allah ta'ala said (which means), "And unto Thamud, We sent their brother Shalih ie. He said: O my people worship Allah, not for you worshiped other than Him." (Surat al-A'raaf: 73). This noble verse indicates that the preaching of the Prophet Salih was preaching monotheism.

[4] Da'wah of the Prophet Shoaib 'alaihisalam /greetings

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "And to the people of Midian, which We sent their brother Shoaib. He said: O my people, worship Allah, not for you to worship other than Him." (Surat al-A'raaf: 85). This noble verse indicates that the preaching of the Prophet Shoaib is preaching unity.

[5]
Da'wah of the Prophet Abraham  'alaihisalam greetings

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "Indeed there has been a good example in Abraham and the people themselves who were with him, when they said to his people: Surely we are quit of you and from everything that you invoke besides Allah. We deny you and have a real between us and you enmity and hatred forever until you come to believe in Allah only." (Surat al-Mumtahina: 4). This noble verse indicates that the missionary was preaching monotheism (of Abraham).

[6] Da'wah of All Apostles' alaihimusalam / greetings

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "Indeed We have sent to every nation a messenger who had brought; Serve Allah and shun Evil." (Surat an-Nahl: 36). This noble verse shows that all the apostles were preaching preaching monotheism.

Then what is meant by unity?

Tawheed, as has been described in the above verses is the worship / worship solely to Allah and not to associate anything with Him. This unity is constantly touted by the prophets and messengers to his people and who became the main objective of their mission. (see Fath al-Majid, pp. 15, al-Qaul al-Mufid [1 / 7]).

Essence of tawheed command is often repeated by the Almighty in the Qur'an in the context of diversity. Among these are:

[1] As he explained the purpose of human life and genie

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "It is I Who created the jinn and men but rather that they may worship Me." (Surat adz-Dzariyat: 56)

[2] When the Prophet Abraham 'alaihisalam  explain the charged dawah :

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "Remember when Abraham said to his father and his people, Behold, I am innocent of all that you worship, except from the Who created me." (Surat az-Zukhruf: 26-27)

[3] As he explained 'the motto of life' of a believer

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "Say: Verily my shaalah and sacrifices, life and death, everything belongs to Allah Lord of the universe, no partnership of  Him." (Surat al-An'am: 162-163)

[4] When forbids praying to other than Him

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "And do not pray to besides Allah, something which does not guarantee benefits and harms thee. If you do, then really you then are of those who do wrong. If God inflicted a hazard upon you, surely none can save you , except Him." (Surah Yunus: 106-107)

[5] When explaining errors in addition to those who pray to Him

Allah ta'ala said (which means), "And who is more astray than those who pray to besides Allah, something which clearly would not meet demand until the end comes." (Surat al-Ahqaf: 5)

[6] As he explained how the weak worship besides Allah

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "Do they want to ascribe God with something that can not create anything, while they themselves were created, they are not even able to give help to them / devotees ..." (QS . al-A'raaf: 191-192)

[7] When worship besides Allah censures

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "Everything that you invoke besides Him is not at all to master even as thin as the epidermis." (Surat Fathir: 13)

[8] When to the unbelievers, they explain the love that they worship

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "Yet Among mankind is he who raised worship other than Allah as equal ( with Allah ), they loved him  ( as their love to God )." (Surat al-Baqara: 165)

[9] When instructed to put their trust in Him

Almighty says (which means), "And should you trust in God only, if you really believe." (Surat al-Ma'idah: 23)

[10] While banning the acts of belittling His Apostles  Allah ta'ala says (which means), 'Be afraid of the people who
slander affairs with them, because they are crushed  or inflicted a painful punishment." (Surat an-Nuur: 63). Imam Ahmad explained that the reference 'defamation' in this verse is shirk.

The virtue of Tawheed

Here are some of the priorities of tawheed mentioned by the scholars, that may further encourage us to explore, practice, and call upon daawah.

[1] Tawheed - the secret of the  Al-Quran

al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir may Allaah have mercy saying, "... This is as stated by some scholars of the Salaf , al-Fatiha is the secret of the Qur'an, while the secrets of this letter is contained in the phrase
Iyyakana'budu wa 'iyyaka nasta'in' - Thee only we worship and Thee only we ask that you please-... " (Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Azhim [1 / 36] CET. the Dar al-Fikr)

Ibn Abil 'Izz al-Hanafi said, may Allaah have mercy, "al-Qur'an in that , all , mentions about unity, as well as the rights of return, and also spoke about the shirk as well as perpetrators and reward / punishment for them ..." (Sharh Aqidah ath-Thahawiyah, pp. 89 CET. al-Maktab al-Islami)

[2] Tawhid is a security requirement, and guidance

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "People who believe and do not interfere with the ruthlessness of their faith (shirk) that they will get their security and that will be given instructions." (Surat al-An'am: 82)

[3]
Tawhid is a condition of acceptance of deeds

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "Anyone who expects the encounter with God and let him do pious deeds and not associate anything in the worship of his Lord." (Surat al-Kahf: 110)

[4] Tawheed is because of luck

Allah ta'ala says (which means), "By the time, actually all people truly are in loss, Except those who believe, of pious charity, advising each other in truth and advised each other to carry out patience." (Qur'an - 'Ashr: 1-3)

[5] Tawheed is the key to paradise

Allah ta'ala says (meaning), "Verily he who ascribe the true God Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and where the return is hell, and nothing for those who do wrong that no helper." (Surat al-Ma ' idah: 72)
